We used these to create sockets for pins that hold up braces for the doors protecting our raised garden beds. These sleeves keep the wood from degrading. Hopefully they'll hold up to some damp winter weather, but they'll be easy and quick to replace in any case. I appreciate the fast shipping and the quality of the pieces.

Grommets look GREAT I have made several purchases in the past, and I have always been pleased with the results. Parts are packaged in medium weight heat sealed bags, with large identification labels. The orders are shipped very quickly, and the metal is good quality. I fix up Heywood Wakefield furniture from the 1940’s and 1950’s. Widgets is where I buy my Shelf Pins because they look like the originals for that furniture. I also upgrade vintage display cabinets by adding lighting and glass shelves. This usually means adding more shelf pin holes to provide more shelf adjustments. Personally, I feel that filling the empty holes in display cabinets with Grommets adds a finished look and makes the furniture look more expensive. In this particular order I purchased each ‘color’ of Shelf Pin & it's matching Grommet so I could have samples at home to see which would work best with my project. In each pair, the pin and grommet colors matched each other perfectly. I highly recommend Widgets for small orders, since that is all I have placed.

1/4 inch sleeves worked perfectly for me I was concerned after reading Greg S in Michigan's review, but mine arrived today and fit perfectly in the 9/32 holes.

Sloppy fit I ordered the sleeves and pegs to replace the current sleeves because they were loose in the hole and unable to support the weight of the shelf due to sleeves pulling out of the hole. After drilling 66 new 9/32 holes as suggested with my new purchase, I installed the new sleeves and pins only to have the same result. This did not help at all. Instructions should recommend a smaller hole size or a larger sleeve diameter to fit correctly. Back to the drawing board with wasted time and money.

Too much slop between sleeves and 9/32" hole. I measured your sleeves with my calipers and they are .27" at the end/back or the sleeve. The recommended 9/32" hole is .2812". When the pin is in the sleeve and the sleeve is in the hole, all that extra room between the sleeve and the hole makes the entire thing wobbled up and down which defeats the purpose of the sleeves, which is to add strength to the shelf pin. Now I have to wrap 120 sleeves with TWO layers of masking tape, which is what it takes to make them snug in a 9/32 hole. That's going to take me forever. Wood glue didn't work. Gorilla glue expands out onto the cabinet. I guess I could try superglue or a slow set epoxy. But I shouldn't have to. These sleeves are worthless to me. If you have new ones that will be snug in your recommended 9/32" holes, I would greatly appreciate receiving an order of them. Thank you.

Shelf pin sleeves Well made products delivered fast and simple by WIDGETCO. Agree with 17/64 though with a drilling jig or steady hand 9/32 works.

17/64 hole is best! I have purchased these on 2 occasions: around 200 sleeves. I have found that using a 17/64 bit gives you a nice, snug fit. A 9/32 hole is too large: before using these, TEST on a piece of scrap. A durable, nicely finished product otherwise.

As advertised Came fast and just what I expected. Hammering into a 1/4" hole works best.

1/4" hole! Of course these don't exactly fit in a 1/4" hole but each hole should be burred out just a tiny bit and then hammered in for a nice tight fit and for a 1/4" pin.

Loose Inside 9/32 holes The sleeves needed to be glued into 9/32 holes to prevent the from falling out.
