I'm using cork squares for model railroading. Works great. You can get cork coasters at big box craft stores. But these have square corners and are less expensive.

6" Cork Squares
I have been very happy with all of my purchases! The products and service are excellent! One thing I would love to see as a option are rounded corners. I shy away from perfect squares on cork because I am concerned that the corners will break off. (Please note that I have NOT had this happen with WIDGETCO products!) I took a chance and I'm backing them with foam to give more support.
