Professional look
Have invested a lot of time and money creating a 10' long set of built-in bookshelves and wanted something more than a bunch of hole drilled in the sides. These do the job perfectly. Had to make my own jig out of 3/4" ply and found that a 5/16" drill with a stop collar works perfectly for the holes. After finishing my bookcases, I cleaned each hole out again by hand, and an occasional light tap with a small hammer and drift pin set the sleeves perfectly flush. Very happy.
