For some reason, I got a small cork which fits a wine bottle instead of #11 for a barrel. Not a big deal but not worth returning.

One of the corks had a deep crack and broke apart on first effort to use it. And these were the most premium ones. Just a cork, but a bummer nonetheless.

I recently bought 2 antique decanters that had broken down corks as you expect that to happen after 50 years.
I was able to find corks that with a little modification, were made as replacements and so far they are holding up well. These are very well made and you can tell just from the look and feel of them.

The right size for the job.
I purchased a #10 and a #11 cork to fit in the mouth of a Western 1 gallon jug. The #11 was just right while the #10 was just a little small.
