Size #40 Jar Corks are manufactured to exacting standards to provide a secure fit. Bulk quantities are available. They also have minimal air and liquid permeability, making them an ideal closure for preserving the quality of the jar's contents.

Apparently I measured the jar wrong because the cork lid was a bit too small; however, I utilized the cork lid by inserting straight pins on four sides and they rest on the jar lid nicely. I did not want to return the cork for another because there is no guarantee that I would measure it correctly the 2nd time around either. This will work fine for my purposes. I appreciate the offer to return it but my life is a bit stressful and I will settle for this one. You are a good company and I will be ordering again in the future, if needed. Thanks.

Need a size 41!
I know, you don't offer one. I ordered size 40 thinking it would not be a problem but I'm afraid with a little pressure the cork could be pushed into the jar. Looking at size 42 - it may not get in the jar at all. The opening of my jar is 2-3/4" so caught between a rock and a hard spot! It is a great product and very reasonable as far as price goes. Ordering a quantity that you need and not forced to order a gross, also a huge plus. I'll figure out a way to put a knob on the #40 and make it work.

At last, a replacement that works!
I use two glass bottles everyday to hold distilled water in my refrigerator. When the stoppers died, the bottles were still quite functional and I searched everywhere to find replacement lids with no luck. Then I purchased some cork stoppers from Widgetco.com for some old glass canisters that needed lids and "Bingo!" I decided to purchase cork stoppers for the water bottles too. They fit well and I am anxious to see how they hold up with moisture. But, I am a happy camper. Thanks again Widgetco.com!

Bought two size 40 corks for two vintage canisters (only one had a lid.) They are going to be a Christmas gift so was concerned about how they would look. I couldn’t be more satisfied. I measured the ID of the canister opening, it fell right in between the two cork measurements. They fit perfectly, resting halfway from top to bottom. The cork itself was very nice quality, just right for this type of use.
